Campus Sport

Campus Sport

Overview

Our Campus Sport programme offers a fun, social and inclusive way for you to enjoy sport and fitness during your time with us at Leeds Beckett.

Our recreational Intramural Leagues allow you to play 7-a-side Football or Netball in a fun environment as well as other sporting events such as our Rackets and American Sports programmes.

Our leagues encourage you to bring your course mates, house mates or anybody else you know from Leeds Beckett to go head-to-head against other studens from our University.

Intramural Netball Leagues

Our Intramural Netball League is one of our most popular programmes. Our leagues are played indoors in the Carnegie Sports Centre at our Headingley Campus and is open to anybody at any ability, whether you're looking to get back in to Hockey, have fun with your University friends or want to try it for the first time, this is the perfect league for you.

When does it start?

The league takes place on Thursdays from 6pm until 9pm and starts on the following dates:

Semester one

12 October 2017

Semester two

1 February 2018

About the league

There are spaces for 16 teams in the league, which is made up of two divisions. The top teams will go through to the playoffs each semester to decide on the overall winner. At the end of the year, the winners from each semester will play a head-to-head to decide who will be crowned the 2017-18 champions.

Our 17-18 champions will then represent Leeds Beckett in the Intramural Varsity competition against the University of Leeds.

How do I join?

You must have a Sports Beckett Membership to play in the sports league, or pay £4 pay the casual entry fee each week. You must also pay the £50 entry for your whole team for the semester.

Rules

Rules are sent out to team captains prior to the league starting, along with the fixtures, which will all be available to view online  – including the all-important results!

We will provide referees to make sure there was no contact or your Goal Defence didn’t step out of their area!

Can't get a team?

Not a problem! Whether you can't get enough players for a team or you are looking for a team to join, we are here to help. Just let us know and we’ll see about trying to team you up with others so you can enter your team or get a game. If the league is full, we can also add your team to a reserve list should any teams pull out of the league.

Any questions?

Racket Sports

We take great pride in our excellent racket sports programme. In recent years racket sport development at Leeds Beckett has grown, thanks to initial Sport England funding, with taster sessions, leagues and events taking place throughout the year in Badminton, Racketball, Squash, Table Tennis and Tennis.

Whether you are looking to improve your game with coaching sessions, or take part in our fun charity events such as our Rackethons, we have something for everyone. You don’t even need to bring your own racket!
