Cricket

Overview

The cricket programme at the University is very strong, with opportunities for all standards, male and female. We have close links to Yorkshire County Cricket Club, where you can enjoy watching the professionals, and we also provide volunteering opportunities and coaching qualifications in cricket.

Plus Icon Athletic Union Cricket Club

We have four men’s and one women’s cricket teams for you to join and compete against other Universities. The women's and one of the men's teams are MCCU squads (more information below). 

Training begins with indoor nets in October for all teams, with fixtures from April to June. Competitively, the club plays in BUCS, with the men’s first team in Premier North.

The University is also part of the Leeds/Bradford MCCU, a partnership with the University of Leeds, Bradford University and Bradford College. With this and the AU club, cricketers are able to access:

Players for both the men's and women's team have gone on to play for Country Cricket teams and have the opportunity during the year to play against County level teams.

Our home ground for AU teams is New Rover Cricket Club, 2 miles from Headingley Campus. The club are always looking for those players who wish to play club cricket outside of the BUCS season.
