Adam Cartwright

Senior Lecturer

Adam is a Registered Dietitian who joined the Nutrition and Dietetic Group at Leeds Beckett University in 2016. He completed a BSc (Hons)in Physiology and Nutrition at the University of Southampton, undertook the Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics at Leeds Metropolitan University (now Leeds Beckett University) and subsequently completed his MSc in Dietetics (Leeds Beckett University) and more recently the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (Leeds Beckett)

Prior to being appointed as a Senior Lecturer within the School of Clinical and Applied Science at Leeds Beckett University in 2016, Adam worked as a Dietitian at a number of different NHS Trusts across the country. Specialising predominately in the dietetic management of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and stroke, Adam also has significant experience of developing hospital catering services.

Adam is a State Registered Dietitian and Fellow of the HEA.

Current Teaching

Adam teaches on both the undergraduate and postgraduate courses provided by the group, including , Postgraduate Diploma Dietetics, MSc Clinical Nutrition, BSc (Hons) Nutrition and BSc (Hons) Dietetics.

His current teaching input involves:

  • Module Leader
    • Food and Food Science (BSc Nutrition and BSc Dietetics)
    • Nutrition Strategies (BSc Dietetics)
    • Lifestyle and long-term conditions (Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics)
    • Dissertation supervision
    • Personal tutorship
    • Placement liaison tutor - for students training in specific NHS Trusts within the Northern and Yorkshire cluster

Research Interests

Adam will be undertaking a PhD as part of his role at Leeds Beckett University.
