Andy Wood

Senior Lecturer

Andy is currently a senior Lecturer and Co-Year Leader at Northern Film School, Leeds School of Arts. He is a programmer for Leeds International Film Festival and organiser of the screendance competition for Short Film City.

Andy is curator of dance film screenings of international artists' work, and facilitator of screendance workshops in the UK and abroad. Collaborator on international screendance festival panels. He is a creator of dance-films screened at international film festivals, galleries, shopping malls and public buildings.

Andy is a member of the Board of Moves: Movement On Screen Festival; Yorkshire panel of Artists Taking the Lead (Arts Council England) and made the launch film for 'imove' Yorkshire's cultural program for London 2012. He created a documentary about landmine clearance on the Ukraine-Russian border for the Halo Trust (2019) and DOP'd a dance-film in a secret tunnel under Temple Newsome House (2020). He is currently developing an ACE funded dance film based on the works of Edgar Allen Poe with choreographer Dora Frankel.

Andy originally trained as a fine artist and subsequently spent 25 years in the music industry as an award winning musician and producer.
