About Dave Procter

Dave is a multi-instrumentalist, studio engineer, DJ and live performer in the UK and EU, playing under a variety of solo pseudonyms and also in collectives/bands. The range of music stretches from folk and bluegrass, via post-punk/funk/space rock to drone, noise and harsh noise.

Part of his current artistic practice is focussing on Dadaism and Surrealism in Live Performance of Noise via the act in Human Resources.

He curates live experimental art events under the names Hogwash, Swinefest and Ten Hours of Drone in collaboration with Wonkystuff based in York.

  • Level 6 - Supervisor for final year Experimental Music Performance collaborative project

Research Interests

Dave is currently working on two research projects looking at noise music scene ethnography in northern England and continental Europe. The synthesis of this research will be published in early 2016. There are plans for a much larger project involving ethnographic mapping of Aarhus as a centre for Noise Music in Denmark and this may be the focus of future PhD study.
