Dr Saheed Ajayi

About Dr Saheed Ajayi

Saheed is a senior lecturer at the School of Built Environment and Engineering. He has expertise in Construction management and Architecture, and he is a member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). Saheed holds a PhD in Construction and Architectural Management, MSc in Sustainable Architecture and Healthy Building and a BSc (Hons) in Architecture. Prior to joining Leeds Beckett University, he has a demonstrated history of working in the construction industry and higher education institutions. Over the years, he has been involved in various collaborative and multidisciplinary research involving key players within the UK construction industry. He was involved in developing a Building Information Modelling (BIM) based tool and decision support system for minimizing construction waste in Balfour Beatty (Construction Services) PLC.

Saheed has published widely in academic and professional journals, and he is currently a reviewer for many reputable international journals within the built environment. His research focuses on the broad areas of sustainable built environment, competency-based modelling and design/construction management. His specific research areas include sustainable design analysis and simulation, Lifecycle assessment, construction waste management, Building Information Modelling, Health in Buildings and IT in construction.

As a teacher, his teaching is underpinned by the concept of “students as partners”. As such, he believes in collaborative learning environment where students are increasingly engaged and involved in learning and teaching assessment, pedagogical consultancy, subject-based inquiry and scholarship of teaching and learning. He enjoys using various technology-enhanced teaching resources for enhancing students’ engagement.

Current Teaching

As a lecturer, his teaching philosophy is based on reciprocal relationship that is underpinned by the concept of “students as partners”. Based on this, he does appreciate interactive, collaborative and engaging learning environment. Saheed teaches on various courses across the built environment including:

Research Interests

Saheed’s research cuts across the built environment and he has competencies and experience of collaborative and multidisciplinary research involving built environment professionals, IT experts and entrepreneurs. His specific research interests include:
