Research Interests

Ian is interested in many aspects of modern construction technologies and the ways in which the industry needs to embrace the digital information environment.

Current research focusses upon the continuing impact of digital information availability and over-availability and how the phenomena of information overload affects construction project decision-making for better or worse.

Current research considers how digital information management and capability level for managers then supports a range of decision-making paradigms and especially when industry professionals are considered according to position, time in role and where age-experienced such as archetypal Generation X colleagues are then compared with their younger/post-millennial co-workers in terms of their comfort with and adoption of digital information.

The research will look to establish where trends may be seen or are emerging with regard to effective digital information use and management within key project decision-making practices and in support of the present and future performance related challenges for the industry.
