Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

A.

All media equipment can be booked through our booking portal, medialoans.leedsbeckett.ac.uk. The portal works like an online retailer. You can browse our equipment by location (Headingley or City) and add it to a basket. You then set the dates of when you need it and the equipment will be reserved for you.

You must book your equipment in advance. You can book equipment up to 90 days in advance of when you will need it. This is good if you are planning a large project.

Please note: During peak times, such as around the end of semesters, there can be a huge demand for equipment, we suggest booking as soon as you know what you will need.

The service has a wide range of cameras, camcorders, tripods, cables, microphones, remotes and much more. View the entire catalogue of the Media Equipment Loans booking site.

We understand that accidents happen. If you break equipment the Media Loans Desk will work with you to arrange a replacement or repair. You may be asked to pay for a replacement.

You can re-book your equipment once through the portal so long as another person hasn’t already booked them. We do not charge late fees but we will revoke borrowing privileges from students who repeatedly return equipment late. When students don’t return equipment when expected, other students who have booked that equipment are then left without the devices they need.
