There are prayer rooms for student use at various locations across both campuses.
Our University welcomes people from all faiths and none. Recognising both its background as a secular institution and that Religion or Belief are protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010, it makes provision for faith spaces at both its main campuses for the use of students, staff and visitors who are on campus attending other events.
Our newly refurbished Faith Space is now open on the first floor of Woodhouse, City Campus. For everyone’s safety and security, access to the space is by student / staff ID card, so make sure you have your card with you to use the facilities. The spaces is accessed via the main staircase or the lift at the entrance to Woodhouse. The washrooms, along the same corridor, have also been refurbished and include Wudhu facilities. Please be mindful of all groups who may use the facilities and read our new guidelines. The rooms are open from 07:00 - 20:00, Monday to Friday.
Please note that the location of this space is interim and there are plans to incorporate new multi-faith spaces into the next phase of the re-development of our City Campus
There is also prayer space at Cloth Hall Court in rooms 405 and 406.
The faith spaces at Headingley Campus are in the Grange at the south end of the campus. The rooms (male and female) and toilets / washing facilities were refurbished Summer 2014. As at City Campus, access to the rooms is by swipe card only via the entrance to the left of the main entrance; all student and staff cards will give access to the area. The rooms can be accessed 08:00 – 19:00, Monday to Friday.
Other faith spaces
The Claire Chapel (upstairs) in the Emmanuel Centre, Woodhouse Lane, is open for quiet reflection and Christian prayer, Monday to Friday. A list of worship services can be found on the chaplaincy website.
