Kirsty Tennick, BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences, University of Canberra, Australia
"Studying at the University of Canberra for a semester was the best experience I’ve ever had. If anyone is considering doing it, I’d definitely say to start planning as soon as possible as it does take a lot of research and there are forms to fill in but it is 100% worth it. Also not to worry about the cost too much, as there is ways to get around that, such as funding off student finance, or getting a job before you go and whilst there."
Bethany Mitchell, BA (Hons) Sport & Exercise Science, Victoria University, Australia
"I never expected to make lifelong friends and feel as comfortable within a new university as I have been made to feel at home which I didn't expect to happen as much as it has. My academic highlight would be being exposed to highly advanced sport scientists and experience their level and way of teaching across many different subject areas which I find incredibly interesting."
Alexandra Walker, BA (Hons) International Business, Ecole de Commerce Européenne Lyon Bordeaux, France
"To sum up my exchange, it was 'perfect'. I have had an amazing time and most of all I think this experience abroad has had an impact on my future in Leeds. I feel like I have grown up whilst being here and I am now looking forward to carrying on my studies in Leeds."
Grace Lawrenson, BA (Hons) Language Studies, Nordenham, Germany
"Working as a language assistant in Germany was one of the best experiences I've ever had. I had the opportunity to make lots of new friends, travel to new places, improve my German and gain valuable work experience which stands me in good stead for when I finish university. I feel very lucky to have spent nine months there and it is an experience I will remember for the rest of my life!"
Edwin Parker, BA (Hons) Business & Management, Queensland University of Technology, Australia
"One semester seems like a long time but it will fly past. I’ve had a beer in a roof top jacuzzi in Sydney overlooking the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, played competitively in the QUT dodge ball team and attended lunch with the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Brisbane. Make the most of your study abroad semester and do as much as possible whilst you’re abroad!"
Lauren Cartmell, BA (Hons) Languages with International Business, Universite Blaise Pascal, France
"My favourite memories are of travelling. I have been lucky enough to travel to Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, The Netherlands and of course France whilst studying. I can honestly say I am dreading leaving this place because of the amazing friends I have made but now I have a million places to stay all over the world in Europe, America, Asia and Australia! It has been such an enriching experience which has broadened my mind so much!"
Olivia Bostock, BA (Hons) Human Geography, Northern Arizona University, USA
"Studying abroad in Northern Arizona was the most incredible experience of my life to date. I learnt about and saw so much of the USA whilst I lived there. I would recommend studying abroad to everyone as what it gives you is invaluable; the friends, the amount you learn, the travelling and the independence."
Charlotte Brown, BA (Hons) Spanish & Tourism Management, Lanzarote, Spain
"I can honestly say that this was the best experience of my life and I would not change a thing about it. I really feel that this placement puts me in a good position to do what I really want after university."
Chris Straker, BA (Hons) Sports Business Management, San Diego State University, USA
"This was the experience of a lifetime! Thanks to the Study Abroad opportunity I discovered the most amazing city in the world and the place I want to live, made lifelong friends and experienced new cultures. I also gained new educational experiences, networking opportunities and contracts, and accelerated my personal development."
