Halls of Residence

Arena Village, Mill Street, Marsden House and The Plaza have on-site gyms for residents to use, so if easy access to work-out facilities are important to you then these halls are ideal.

University Facilities

The on-campus gyms are fun and friendly places for you to come and get your sweat on. With top class facilities and personal trainers there's everything you need to stay in shape just a short walk away from your lectures. There are classes, clubs and facilities to suit all abilities so whether you're a seasoned gym-goer or trying it for the first time there'll be something to get you moving.

The gyms also have fitness classes available including Les Mills programmes which are included as part of the your student gym membership. There are over 40 classics covering everything from Aerobics to Zumba so pick up where you left off at home or try something new.

On-Campus Gyms

Plus Icon City Campus
The University’s City Campus gym is based in the Portland Building, next to the Student’s Union bar, and is open Monday to Friday from 07:15 to 22:00.

Students can purchase a range of memberships for access to the City Campus gym, starting from £72 for twelve months.
Plus Icon Headingley
During term time the gym is open Monday to Friday 07:15–22:00, Saturday 08:15-19:00 and Sunday 08:15-21:00.

The recently refurbished gym has brand new state of the art equipment, including TV screens built into our cardio machines (including Netflix) as well as a strength & conditioning room for the keenest of weightlifters.

Students can purchase a range of memberships for access to the Headingley Campus gym, starting from £90 for twelve months.

Sports Programmes

The University also offers social sport programmes for students to play against each other in fun and friendly Football and Netball leagues and turn up and play sports sessions

There are also programmes for non-sporty students to start their fitness journeys with the university’s lifestyle courses and wellbeing programmes.

Sports at Leeds Beckett

Leeds Beckett University offers all students the opportunity to get involved with one of their 40 Athletic Union sports clubs and societies.

The University’s Headingley Campus is the hub of Leeds Beckett’s sports clubs, with plenty of sporting facilities available on campus, including tennis courts, football pitches and dedicated sports halls.

The campus also offers sports coaching courses and opportunities available through the Carnegie Coach Education team.

The team have strong links with UK Coaching, the English Rugby Football Union, the Lawn Tennis Association and other sporting governing bodies. The team also offer courses in First Aid and Safeguarding.
