Getting A Job

Job shop

The Job Shop is Leeds Beckett’s own valuable resource for placing students and graduates into paid casual work. Hours are varied and flexible and are usually suitable for students to fit around their studies. You could do anything from leafleting, Marketing, Web Design to becoming a PA (Personal Assistant) for a Head of school.

All you have to do is apply to be part of the Job Shop ‘talent pool’. If after shortlisting, you have been successful you will then be informed of any part-time and full time temporary work opportunities that suit your skill set– so you can earn while you learn.

It’s totally flexible, so you can pick and choose when you work and with a minimum hourly rate of £9.47 you can’t go wrong.

If you are interested in applying for casual work, the Job Shop recruits students for the talent pool during 3 periods each year- September/October, February and May/ June. Applications for the current period will close towards the end of October.

If you would like to speak to someone in person about applying, you can find a member of the Job Shop team here:

City Campus- The Gateway, 8.30-16.30

Headingley Campus- Student Hub, 08.30-16.30

MyHub is a great place to start if you are looking for a job, anything from casual part time jobs to graduate programmes. The Employability Team are always posting new opportunities that may suit you.

The service is there to help you with all aspects of finding a job whether it’s helping you find part-time, meeting employers, accessing information about career options with your degree or help with writing applications.

Careers Advice

It's never too early to start thinking about your career. If you’re thinking more long term (career planning), the Student & Graduate Futures team are the people to see. They are here to support students and graduates with all aspects of career planning & decision making, along with helping you to recognise and develop your employability skills.

They offer a drop in service or careers appointments, they also run workshops and events which are employer-led.

Not sure where to start? Go and say hello to the Employability team in The Gateway (Leslie Silver Building) or the Headingley Student Hub, or give them a call on 0113 812 7335.
