Welcome To Halls
Navigating Your First Week
Once you’ve unpacked and are starting to get to know your flatmates, it can become overwhelming when you think about all the other things you have to sort out before teaching starts. So you don’t have to worry I’ve listed the main things to think about during that first week.
It’s important to have a valid passport, birth/adoption certificate or EU identity card for your ID Check in Welcome Week. If you’ve not got originals then the uni will take a certified copy. For more info visit www.gov.uk/certifying-a-document
Student ID (Campus Card)
Once you’ve had your ID Check you can then pick up your Student ID from the Student Hubs. You’ll use this for getting into buildings, printing, borrowing books and as ID for handing work in.
During Welcome Week, make sure you go to your Course Induction where you will meet your teaching team and find out more about your course, exams, giving feedback and what to do if you need support.
To help get you connected to the University, download the Leeds Beckett app. It’s a great tool for finding rooms, keeping up with your timetables and checking where there’s a free computer.
Leeds is a friendly city but as with anywhere it’s good to look out for one another. You can find more advice about staying safe here.
The Student Hubs are where you can find the Student Experience Team. They’re your go-to team for info and advice on all parts of student life. The friendly staff can answer all your questions and put you in touch with specialist teams if needed.
