Welcome To Halls
What To Bring
What to bring with you
Below is a list of the essential items to consider when moving in to halls. We've also put together a handy checklist that you can download and print to help get you thinking.
If you feel like you're running out of time or ideas then Uni Kit Out offer Student Package starter kits helping make moving in to your new accommodation as easy as possible, you can also get 10% off by using the code BECK10 at the checkout! Shop for bedroom, kitchen and bathroom items which will then be delivered straight to halls before you arrive.
And a spare set of sheets... (Check Inventory for size required).
No need to bring too much with you, but essentials like tea, coffee and snacks will be appreciated before you make it to the supermarket.
- Pots, pans and cutlery
Once you've got your food you'll want some pans to cook it in and plates to eat it from!
- Cook book
You may be living on your own for the first time, so time to experiment with food! So raid your parents book shelf for cook books - or you could even treat yourself to a fantastic student cook book.
- Cleaning products
Equip yourself with some basic cleaning products and become a domestic God or Goddess.
- Things for your room
Posters, photos, etc... Anything to personalise your new room and make it that little bit of home from home.
May be obvious, but remember you may need clothes for going out, going to the gym, warm/water proof clothes (it rains occasionally in Yorkshire!) and you never know when you might need to break out the formal wear.
Laptops, e-readers and tablets can come in very useful. Some students like to bring a TV too but make sure you get your own TV licence first! Also, it pays to know a little about how to work appliances such as washing machines before you get here so grill your parents if there's anything you're not sure about.
- Extension lead/plug adapter
For when you're straightening your hair, charging your phone, running your laptop, listening to music all at the same time...
Any textbooks or material you may have had to get for your course or any A-level textbooks you have used if relevant to your course.
To keep you fit and travel for free. Alternatively you can rent one when you arrive from Velocampus Leeds.
You will need to get your work organised, so don't forget files, folders, and of course a pen and pad may come in useful for taking those lecture notes!
