Studying BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching

Greg is, and always has been, passionate about sport – particularly football – from a young age. He has a Football Association level two coaching badge, a level two multi-skills coaching badge and currently coaches six year olds at an after school club. Greg attributes his love for football and coaching to his dad, who also coached a team, and who sadly passed away in February 2016.

I don’t get much money – my household income has more than halved now – this Scholarship will really fill the gap and get me to where I want to be. Thank you so much to everyone who supports the Scholarship – this will really change my future

Almost a third of first year students have either already dropped out of university or are considering leaving. Recent research tells us that students from disadvantaged backgrounds are much more likely to do so, with money worries being a key driver for this. Greg is just one of many talented students who need additional financial support to achieve their potential, in 2016 we received over 100 applications for a Bright Futures Scholarship. The rising cost of living and the introduction of tuition fees mean a student can feel they have no other choice but to leave university in their first year. Bright Futures Scholarships give students who are struggling financially a much needed boost at a time when they need it most.
