Yasmin Andrews, LLB (Hons) Law
Receiving the scholarship has allowed me to grasp more opportunities, and it has also relieved the financial pressures I faced which has given me more time to focus on my studies.
Why did you choose to study law?
I come from Northern Ireland where I feel that laws haven’t progressed as quickly as society has. Being in a society where there was an inequality in people’s rights drove my passion to bring about change.
Once I have finished my degree I would most like to work for international human rights charities. I hope that in my career I can truly make a difference.
“Receiving the scholarship has allowed me to access more opportunities. The scholarship has helped me pay for accommodation during the summer so I can take a placement.”
Why did you apply to be a Bright Futures scholar?
Finances have been a constant worry in my life at home and at university. With a student loan that just covered my accommodation and no other income, it was a struggle.
