Yasser Ranjha (Graphic Arts & Design, 2011)

Yasser Ranjha (Graphic Arts & Design, 2011)

After graduating from Leeds Metropolitan in summer 2011 with a degree in graphic arts and design, Yasser Ranjha is balancing running a multi-million pound charity with being one ofáBritain's up and coming radio presenters.

After graduating from Leeds Metropolitan in summer 2011 with a degree in graphic arts and design, Yasser Ranjha has not opted for the orthodox career path of someone with his qualifications. Instead of venturing into the graphic design sector he is balancing running a multi-million pound charity with being one of Britain'sáup and coming radio presenters. Yasser is the Leeds Met Students' Union president during the week and a trainee presenter for Capital FM on the weekend.

After working on local radio during his early teens in his hometown of Manchester, Yasser rejuvenated his passion for the airwaves whilst at our University, with his shows on the student radio station seeing him win 'Best MaleáPresenter' and 'Best SpecialistáShow' at the Radio 1 Student Radio Awards. His love of presenting is not constrained to the radio however, and he has also worked extensively for Met TV ľ Leeds Met'sástudent TV station, where he once again earned national recognition by being nominated for four categories at the NASTA awards.

Yasser credits his success to the opportunities available in the Students' Union where he gained invaluable experience in some of the most competitive fields in the entertainment sector. He said: "I got to where I am today all because of my experiences with the Student't Union".
