Leeds Beckett’s creative arts festival, Beyond, showcases the amazing creative talent of our students across our university in an exciting festival taking place in locations throughout the city.

This symposium will instigate further critical debate on the definition and identification of Graphic design courses in Higher Education. Over the last two centuries, the discipline of Graphic Design has been re-categorised and articulated as commercial art, graphic arts, visual communication, and communication design, amongst others terms, which have formed related course titles at Higher Education institutions across the UK.

LIFT OFF

School of Film, Music & Performing Arts

As a celebration of their work over the previous year, second and third year students from the School of Film, Music & Performing Arts will be putting on a number of performances on campus and in the city.

The main showcase from second year music students took place on Tuesday 30 April in the Lending Rooms at the Library Pub. This event also included a collaboration with Broadcast Media third year students who will live stream the performances.

11 April (19:00): Axura, Absynthe, Passiondown, and Tom Whitby at Santiagos

SOUND DEVELOPMENT: MUSIC AS INFRASTRUCTURE

Leeds is the first city to host the event outside of New York and London and the event will welcome delegates from local council, real estate and the music industry for an evening of discussions and debates on the theme of “Music as Infrastructure” and to explore the intersection of music and real estate.

Our final year creative writing students have compiled an anthology which includes poetry, prose, scenes and sketches.

As a celebration of their work over the previous year, second and third year students from the School of Film, Music & Performing Arts will be putting on a number of performances on campus and in the city.

A mixed programme of dance and performances will take place 7-10 May which will see around 24 pieces being staged in studios and venues both in Headingley and the city.

Join us at our 2019 End of Year Showcase and celebrate with our final year students, academic teams and industry guests.

This year we shall be joined by Caroline Hollick, Head of Drama at Channel 4, who will say a few words to officially open this year’s showcase.

View presentations from our final year Creative Technology, Computer Science, Computer Forensics & Security, Computing, Business Information Technology and Engineering students. Each presentation will be judged by a panel of academic staff, with the winning two going forward to the IET regional event.

You will also have the opportunity to view an exhibition of work from Digital Journalism students.

Join us for our Games Design and Computer Animation & Visual Effects Student Showcase 2019 - Downstairs at Sid’s in Leeds city centre. Come and play the best graduate produced video games, play pool and table football with games industry professionals and Leeds Beckett University academic staff to celebrate another year of excellent student work.
