Below is some highlights of work created by students on on MA Urban Design course. Urban design digs deep into what makes a city and brings together professionals from a range of backgrounds who share a passion for improving the design of our urban environments.

Architecture Graduate Hilary Barber wins the ‘Transforming the Urban Landscape’ competition with project partner Adam Greatrix

In October 2020, The Landscape Institute launched an international ideas contest ‘Transforming the Urban Landscape’, which called for entrants to share creative solutions for public spaces in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the global climate change emergency.

2020 Architecture Open Lecture Series

The Architecture subject team at Leeds School of Arts have announced the programme for their winter 2020 open lecture series entitled 'Fortuitous Encounters' - with free public talks taking place on 18th & 25th November and 2nd & 9th December.

LSA Interior Architecture Student Wins IE Velocity 2020 National Studio Project Award

BA (Hons) Interior Architecture & Design student Miles Davidson has recently won the Interior Educators Velocity 2020 National Studio Project Award for his proposal to repurpose the subterranean RAF Bempton Bunker.

Joan Love, a Senior lecturer on BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Design, has had an article on ‘Autism-friendly architecture’ included on The National Autistic Societies ‘Network Autism’, Good Practice and Knowledge base. This highly regarded platform shares the most up to date expertise, practice and resources amongst professionals across the community.

Greatham Creek project wins at the 2019 Structural Steel Awards

Greatham Creek seal and bird hides, designed by students of the architecture Abstract Machine Studio, received an award for producing 'two truly unique hide structures'.

RIBA Award Success

A Leeds Beckett student is celebrating after winning the Best Presentation Prize (Part 1) at the recent RIBA North East and Yorkshire Student Awards 2019 for his final year design project, beating entries from six schools of architecture.

A new community centre developed by RIBA Chartered Architecture Consultancy Project Office, a research collaboration between staff and students at Leeds Beckett University, has been named as one of the UK’s 100 best breakthroughs for its significant impact on people’s everyday lives.
