Leeds Beckett University - City Campus,
Woodhouse Lane,

WW1 remembered
What you may not realise is that very shortly after the start of the war, buildings at our Headingley campus, including the James Graham Building where The Library is housed, were rapidly converted into a military hospital which served as such until 1927 when the wards were finally closed. Called the 2nd Northern General Hospital, it treated thousands of casualties during its life.
Our colleague, Keith Rowntree, has carried out lots of work in researching the history of the university.
