Thinking ahead, some of you may be planning on visiting the Library in person during the holiday. Remember that 24/7 access to both the Headingley and City campus libraries is available all year round, so why not take the chance to call in to the Library? If you’re planning on visiting outside of staffed hours, please remember to bring your student card with you, as you will need this to be able to stay in the Library.
You may also want to visit another university library nearer to your home. Most university libraries in the UK belong to a reciprocal borrowing scheme known as Sconul Access. Please check using other libraries for information on this scheme and for the link to the application form including a video on how to apply. Before travelling to other libraries, it’s usually best to contact them to check the level of access and borrowing rights which they offer to visitors, as these can differ. Once you’ve completed the online application, a member of Leeds Beckett Library staff will process your application within 3 working days. You will then be sent an authorisation email to take along to your chosen university libraries. This is another occasion where you’ll need to take your Leeds Beckett student card.
If you want to use the internet on your laptop during your visit just log in to Eduroam before you go and you’ll be automatically connected in hundreds of libraries in the UK and abroad.
If you don’t have a student card yet, your course administrator should be able to help. You can find their details by going to the University course finder, finding your course, then clicking on the staff info icon on the right of the screen.
If you’re looking for a book or journal that Leeds Beckett Library doesn’t have in stock you might want to visit the British Library or apply for an Interlibrary Loan. This service is mainly for final year and postgraduate students but please contact your Academic Librarian if you are not in your final year but can’t find what you need in the Library.
You can also contact us here at Offsite for help in finding details of your course administrator, or for any enquiries related to the Library. We’ll also try to help with any queries related to your learning.
Enjoy the spring flowers – more daffodils and less snow please!
