If you are joining the University in Semester 2 here are some helpful things to get you started with using the Library.

Welcome to all new students in Semester 2

What is Offsite?

The Offsite web pages are dedicated to supporting distance learners in using the Library. We provide a service to post out books to students on eligible courses living in the UK or mainland Europe. To sign-up for Offsite postal loans just complete the online form which can be found under the Library tab in MyBeckett, or contact us if you have any queries about Offsite.

When is the Library open?

There are two libraries at Leeds Beckett; Sheila Silver Library at City Campus and Headingley Campus Library, both are open 24/7 every day. You can also contact us 24/7.

If you are a distance learner but wish to visit the Library you need your Campus Card to access Sheila Silver Library at all times and at Headingley Library you will need it 19:00-08:30, you also need your Campus card for printing. The Library offers a choice of study environments from silent and group study to bookable Student Meeting Rooms, you may find you need different types of study space at different times of the academic year.

What is MyBeckett?

MyBeckett provides access to your modules, reading lists, timetables, student email and much more, it's a good idea to log on as soon as you can, you don't want to miss any important anouncements! Why not make a start with our online Study Ready course on studying at University?

Don’t forget you can download Microsoft Office 365 for free and start to use OneDrive to save your work.

What support is available to help with my studies?

Check out the Library Subject Guide for your particular course, where you will find details of your Academic Librarian, the Library subject specialist for your area. You will also find key resources for your subject area.

The Skills for Learning team also have a collection of resources to support the learning and teaching of academic skills. We have also put together a reading list of study skills resources available online to get you started or you can take a look at our Very Short Introduction ebooks.

How can I access resources for my course?

Our Library website is full of information about all our services and the thousands of resources available to you and all courses have an online reading list that can be accessed through MyBeckett.  Find out how to access electronic resources such as ebooks and eJournals.
