Welcome to Leeds Beckett Library

Welcome to Leeds Beckett Library! We look forward to meeting you at your Library induction, Freshers’ Fairs, out and about around campus and, of course, in the Libraries!
Students in the library

Sheila Silver Library at City Campus and Headingley Library are open 24/7, 365 days a year and MyBeckett is where you’ll find your modules, assignments, reading lists, email and timetable plus Library resources for your subject. Take a look at the Get Started tab to do just that! And make sure you go along to your Library induction during your first few weeks – you’ll meet the Academic Librarian for your course who will be able to support you right through to your dissertation and final projects.

If you're worried that your skills have become a bit rusty you can use our Prepare to Learn module, available from MyBeckett's home page, to find out about studying at University and look out for our Skills for Learning workshop programme which includes sessions on essay writing, critical thinking, time management and more.

During Welcome Week we will be helping run some sessions as part of a programme of events to help you get set for life in Leeds, and study at Leeds Beckett University. These sessions will include; an introduction to MyBeckett and reading lists, Office 365, and an introduction to assistive software. You can find a full list of all these events on the Welcome Events webpage.

And did you know that you can install Office 365for free for the duration of your studies at Leeds Beckett? This also gives you access to up to ITB of cloud storage on OneDrive and a University Microsoft email address and 50GB mailbox. Set your devices up on eduroam (our Wi-Fi network) and you’re good to go.

If you need help with any of this our Library and Student IT Advice Team is your first point of contact for research and referencing skills, borrowing, passwords, Wi-Fi, printing, Office 365 and more. They are available on the ground floors of both Libraries 08:30-19:00 Monday-Friday and 11:00-17:00 on Saturdays and Sundays during term-time. Staff will also be out and about in the first few weeks of term to help you with any questions you have and you can also phone us (0113 812 1000) or chat with us 24/7 – just see the Contact Us page on our website.
