Where is the Library?
There are two libraries at Leeds Beckett; Sheila Silver Library at City Campus and Headingley Campus Library, both open 24/7 every day so whether you are an early riser or a night owl you can choose the study time that suits you. You need your Campus Card to access Sheila Silver Library at all times and at Headingley Library you will need it 19:00-08:30, you also need your Campus card for printing. The Library offers a choice of study environments from silent and group study to bookable Student Meeting Rooms, you may find you need different types of study space at different times of the academic year.
How do I get connected?
If you’ve brought a mobile device with you to University you’ll need to get it set up on the wireless network, eduroam, and you can also download Microsoft Office 365 for free and start to use OneDrive to save your work. If you don’t have a laptop or don't want to carry it round with you, don't worry you can borrow one to use in the Library.
What is MyBeckett anyway?
MyBeckett provides access to your modules, reading lists, timetables, student email and much more, it's a good idea to log on as soon as you can, you don't want to miss any important anouncements! Why not make a start with our MyBeckett module on studying at University?
What support is available to help me with my studies?
You should have a Library induction in the first few weeks of your course where you will meet your Academic Librarian and find out more about all the help available to you, including your Subject Guide on the Library website which highlights the key resources for your subject area.
You will also learn about the academic skills support available through bookable Skills for Learning workshops and webinars. We have also put together a reading list of study skills resources available online to get you started or you can take a look at our Very Short Introduction ebooks.
How can I access the resources for my course?
Our Library website is full of information about all our services and the thousands of resources available to you on and off-campus and all courses have an online reading list that can be accessed through MyBeckett. We also have dedicated information pages for international students and students studying part-time. Our website also lists all the ways you can contact us and how to follow us on social media, so don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions!
