Many of our fellow students often come to university without a strong sense of where they want to end up or at least their ideals change throughout their university experience, we are here to help remove the stress of last minute decision making, by ensuring members of our society are well informed and prepared for future job applications and the role they feel they are best suited to.
I’m currently the President of the industry-based society for the School of Built Environment & Engineering, our aim is to provide students with an introductory footing within the industry, offering a broad overview of the different career opportunities/areas which students may not realise are open to them. In addition we also provide:
- Site visits
- Recruitment advice and assistance
- A chance to create tangible evidence of individual skills
- Provide an additional support network
From the beginning of our society, we have held various events aimed at students’ needs including hosting events through local industry related companies, site visits, CV and Linked In builder workshops, to name a few.
But it’s not all just hard work at our society!! we enjoy treating our members to various social activities, with the intent of breaking the ice and letting off a little steam after our exams! We want to be as inclusive as possible so all of our events are fully catered for students with any specific medical, dietary or religious requirements.
