BA (Hons) Sports Events Management 2021 graduate, Euan Coutie attended the Leeds Beckett 2022 Graduation Ceremony and shares with us his experience studying at Leeds Beckett and the favourite part of his course.

How are you feeling today, and how was your Graduation Ceremony?

It’s been great, it’s been a long time coming after four years but it’s a nice sense of achievement.

What support did you receive whilst at university?

The support I received was great, if I had any problems, my tutors would always do their best to help me out.

Why did you choose to study BA (Hons) Sports Events Management at Leeds Beckett?

Events have always been a passion of mine, I love organising and putting events on that other people can enjoy. Leeds Beckett has a great reputation for events management and is home to the  UK Centre of Events Management. I’m from Sheffield so it’s not too far away from home. Leeds is a great city. I still live here now and I’m not looking to move anytime soon.

What was your favourite part of your course and why?

My first year was my favourite part. I enjoyed meeting all the people on the course and spending the next 3 or 4 years with them. It has been really nice catching up with some of my course friends today and we’re all meeting up later to celebrate together. University is not just about your degree but it’s about meeting new people from all walks of life and finding yourself and who you are as a person.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of studying your course?

I would say come to the open days, be open-minded, and if there is something you want then go get it – you get what you put in! Follow your passion and remember everyone’s path is different and there is no need to rush, you will have your degree for life so take your time and work towards the career you want.
