Our 2022 Event Futures Industry Conference was our biggest yet, with stimulating panel discussions from our industry guests on topics including:-

Sustainability within events.
How we ensure our workplaces and our organisations are truly embracing equality, diversity and inclusion in their businesses.
The skills/mindset needed from our events graduates as we head into a new era of event experiences.

"It was an inspiring day talking about some real issues that the industry faces. Feeling grateful to have met some amazing industry professionals and to hear their opinions and how they are tackling these issues within their workplaces." Sebastian Pomfrey, Final Year Events Management student

In the breakout rooms, final year students worked with industry guests on four possible scenarios of the future as part of live research being conducted at the UK Centre for Events Management. Through these scenarios, students considered the rise of AI and the metaverse, how our ageing population might impact upon the sector and considerations of how new technologies might change the way in which we produce and deliver events.

"The discussions from the event have formed a really interesting talking point between our wider team at Live Recruitment- it was very insightful to hear the thoughts and experiences of other industry professionals as well as the perspective of up and coming graduates!" Laura Sidhu, Senior Account Manager, Live Recruitment

Senior Lecturer and Level Leader, Michelle Lanham reflected on the value of the Event Futures Conference: “Industry events like our Event Futures Conference are an integral part of our student experience. Networking in our sector is vital, and we want to support our students in making those important industry connections. Learning how to initiate that first conversation, and how to build professional relationships post event, is a life skill that takes time and practice to perfect. It has been really rewarding to see our student's confidence grow in this area, and to hear of the other experiences they have been offered as a result of those first conversations”.
