Academics work premieres at SLAP Festival of Contemporary Performance

Dance academic and choreographer Beth Cassani (Leeds Beckett University) has collaborated with Joseph Mercier (NSCD and Panic Lab) to make a new full-length touring show. The Faun Project premiered at the SLAP Festival of Contemporary Performance at York Theatre Royal at the end of February.

BA (Hons) Entertainment Management graduate awarded a Leisure Studies Association (LSA) ‘Nikki Ventris Dissertation of the Year’ award

Jennah, who is currently studying for an MA in Popular Culture and Music at Leeds Beckett, was nominated by her tutor Brett Lashua to the LSA, for her outstanding dissertation entitled ‘A Critical Analysis of Gender and Alternative Rock: How Female Musicians in Leeds Experience and Resist Discrimination’.

Northern Film School students sweep RTS Yorkshire Student Awards

What an incredible evening at the RTS Yorkshire Student Awards which was held at Leeds College of Music. The Northern Film School won two out of the five main categories including the coveted Best Drama Award and also Best Short Form. Our third prize of the evening was awarded to Tobias Gavelle, one of our talented screenwriting alumni who is also a formidable sound designer who won an individual craft award for Best Sound Design for Animation.
