Denise McArdle, Strategic Director of Pickard Properties, said:

‘We are very pleased to be the headline sponsors once again for this major sports event in the students’ calendar. We have sponsored sports teams across both Leeds Beckett University and Leeds University for many years and are looking forward to seeing these talented students compete.

“Varsity is an event that encourages a positive competitive spirit, and brings to the fore the positive impact that sport can have physically and mentally for students. We are very proud to be a part of Leeds Varsity 2022.’

Jo Mannion, Sports Office Manager at Leeds Beckett University, said:

“It’s great to have Pickard Properties returning as headline sponsor for 2022. They have been incredibly supportive of the event to date and their sponsorship allows us to make the event bigger and better than ever.”

Speaking on behalf of Leeds University Union, Nicole Jimenez Mogrovejo, International and Postgraduate Officer said:

“We really appreciate the support of Pickard Properties and look forward to working with them again this year. After nearly three years away, we’re really looking forward to opening our doors again to this ‘must attend’ event in the Leeds student calendar. After such a long time, we’re really excited to bring everyone together and celebrate sport, friendship, and the positivity of Varsity.

“Whether you’re passionate about a sport, a team, your university or just being in Leeds, we’ll have a game for you. Varsity is a chance to come together outside the classroom and join in the wider student community with your friends. It really is for anyone and everyone, whether you’re sporty or not.”

Sports teams from both Leeds Beckett University and the University of Leeds will compete from Wednesday 27 April to Wednesday 4 May for the right to be crowned Leeds Varsity 2022 champions.
