22 Club Marks Awarded to Leeds Beckett Teams in 2023

22 Athletic Union Clubs have been awarded a Leeds Beckett Club Mark with eight Clubs achieving the prestigious Gold award. The Club Mark was introduced in September 2018 to recognise those Clubs operating at a high standard and to encourage other Clubs to aspire to the same standards. The Mark recognises achievements in seven key areas: Committee and Organisation, Coaching, Social and Welfare, Finance, Activity, Competition and Community.

Clubs with the accreditation will now be entitled to certain benefits and rewards dependent on their award level, including access to additional funding, free Varsity t-shirts and priority access to facilities.

Speaking about the Club Development Mark, Student Sport Manager Jo Mannion said ‘I’m delighted that we had so many successful applications. The Club Mark is intended to be a clear indicator to prospective members, coaches and sponsors that a club is well operated, inclusive and enterprising. I would like to congratulate all Clubs who have been successful in achieving the Club Mark and look forward to submissions from the rest of our Clubs in the coming months!’

This year the Club Mark considered a number of new criteria including each club’s sustainable practices and their work with community. Examples of good practice ranged from recycling old uniforms to taking part in local charity events.
