Examples of what has been done:

  • The Glendale Gateway Trust
The team supported a cycle tourism development project to develop market towns across Northumberland, as 'cycle hubs'. The Leeds Beckett University consultants were involved in researching, planning and testing a range of routes radiating out from the two towns of Wooler and Haltwhistle. Other activities included capacity building with local businesses, preparing detailed route maps and leading a widespread PR and marketing campaign designed to get publicity for the routes.
  • Scottish Fisheries Museum
Consultants from the University supported the museum's management team and trustees, to prepare a business plan for the period 2011 – 2015, drawing from their extensive expertise in the tourism sector. The business plan identified key business objectives; reviewed the revenue and income implications associated with meeting these objectives and; established key performance indicators against which progress can be monitored.
  • A group of event companies which became The Yorkshire Events Network
Leeds Beckett University consultants worked with a group of independent event companies to enhance their capacity, networks and business strategy. With funding from the ERDF, the consultants assessed the events market and competitiveness of the region in the events field and using our experience and expertise, recommended the independent companies collaborate to form a regional network. The Yorkshire Events Network project helped to encourage local economic regeneration as well as encouraging inward investment. The Network is now a sustainable enterprise with improved connections between businesses and graduate-led new business start-ups.
