Plus Icon About Dave

Dave’s presentation is an inspirational account of his experiences planning and leading the expedition in which he led a team of elite climbers to become the first British team to climb the formidable and rarely attempted West Ridge of Mount Everest. It is a riveting and awe-inspiring account of the leadership skills and determination necessary to select the right team, motivate and engage them and build a shared vision that will enable them to reach their goal.

Dave paints an extraordinary picture of successful teamwork, tough decision-making, personal challenge and enduring friendship in the most extreme environments. With stunning images from the rare vantage point of the West Ridge of Mount Everest, it is a presentation that will inspire, move, entertain and leave a lasting impression.

Plus Icon About Andy

Andy McMenemy came to public knowledge when, in 2011, he set out to complete a World Record bid in an epic challenge to run 66 Ultra Marathons in 66 consecutive days in the 66 official cities of the UK. This attempt was also to raise significant money for ABF The Soldiers Charity. Despite crippling injuries, including a damaged Achilles tendon on day 2(!) and very firm medical advice to abandon his attempt, he carried on running – and succeeded against the odds. The following year Andy was chosen to carry the Olympic Torch as part of the relay preceding the London 2012 Olympic Games.

His tenacity, achievement and inspiration of other people have not gone unnoticed. In April 2014, Andy was honoured and very proud to receive The True Englishman of 2014 Award at The St George's Day Annual Luncheon at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. Andy said: “It is a huge privilege to join the eminent list of previous recipients which includes Sir Stephen Redgrave CBE, Sir Roger Bannister CBE MSC, Sir Ian Botham OBE, Sir Ranulph Fiennes OBE, Lawrence Dallaglio and many more."

From rising up the corporate ladder (and subsequently jumping off it), to taking part in some of the world’s most extreme endurance events, to setting himself the task of beating the world record for consecutive ultra-marathons for charity, he’s not one to accept the status quo or to stand still and he is keen to share his passion. His understanding of the business world and experiences in challenges requiring extreme levels of drive and determination form a valuable part of any CGO programme.

Very easy to listen to, he has a great mix between informative and humorous. His subject matter was inspirational and crucially, is also relevant to a business context.

Ken Paul, Senior Manager, Capgemini

Dave took the participants on our programme up the mountain with him through a series of images, videos and descriptions. He very naturally and effectively linked this into leadership and got across some important learning lessons. His tale was inspirational for us and the slight twist in the tale deepened the learning. He was able to spend the entire day with us, which was great in terms of participants being able to talk further to him and to run networking sessions. Had we realised how good he was we would actually have built further group work sessions around his presentation.

Director, Tribal Group Ltd

Dave Bunting is a great mountaineer, exceptional leader and truly inspirational speaker, who is equally at home talking Leadership Development or Outdoor and Adventure.
