Meet the Team: Sam Gee

One of our wedding fair organisers, Sam Gee, tells us what she's looking forward to and gives us some of her top tips for planning a wedding!

Wedding coordinator Sam Gee

You’ve got a background in weddings, haven’t you?

“Yes, I started off working at Thorpe Park Hotel and Spa before moving on to host weddings and that’s really where my love for events began. I’ve worked freelance as a wedding coordinator and I’m now really excited to be involved with weddings at Well Met.”

What’s the day looking like so far, are you nearly ready?

“The organisation’s going brilliantly. We've got some fantastic suppliers involved and I really think our guests are going to gain a lot from their expertise. All our suppliers are ready and they’re all looking forward to it, we’re just putting the finishing touches to the room layout. It’s going to look amazing! I love working on events in the James Graham building, it's such a beautiful, historic venue.”

What are you looking forward to most from the day?

“The best thing about working in weddings is always meeting couples and finding out a bit about how they met and how they want their big day to be. No two couples are the same so I love helping them work out how to put their individual stamp on our venue.”

So in all your experience, what are your top tips for planning your day?

“Most couples find that there are one or two aspects of the day that are really important to them. When it comes to budgeting, decide on what’s important to splash out on and then work around that.”

“Having suppliers you can trust makes a real difference on the day too so take the time to find suppliers who really understand what you’re going for. When we host weddings, we coordinate with all the suppliers directly so once you’ve agreed your prices and packages with them, we’ll do the rest.”

“I think the top thing to remember is that it’s your day and it’s a celebration of who you are and the decision you’ve made to spend your lives together. It’s good to be considerate of your guests, but if there’s one day for having things done your way, it’s your wedding!”
