This five-week course will help to improve your English language by the equivalent of IELTS 0.5 before starting your chosen degree. It is designed for international and EU students who already hold a conditional offer for an undergraduate or postgraduate course.
As part of your course, you’ll:
- Improve your English language knowledge
- Gain extensive practice in academic reading, writing and listening
- Work on your communication, presentation and seminar skills
- Develop time management, problem-solving, organisational and planning skills
- Raise intercultural awareness and self-confidence – you’ll be able to show greater initiative in all that you do
- Be prepared for successful university study in the UK – by better understanding UK university culture, customs and expectations
Successful completion of this course will enable you to progress to your chosen undergraduate or postgraduate programme.
Due to the current global Covid-19 pandemic, from Monday 3 August learning will take place online only with a maximum of 20 people in a class. You’ll have 16.7 hours of activities per week. Classes will be at any time between 8:00 and 18:00 from Monday to Friday. There will be no classes on national holidays. (Monday 3 May 2021, Monday 31 May 2021, Monday 31 August 2021).
You’ll also have online one-to-one tutorials with your academic advisor and you’ll have access to lots of self-study resources stored in our online library. Your assessments will include a mix of coursework, which tests your reading, writing, speaking and listening; there will be no end-of-course examination.
For students who need to improve their English by the equivalent of IELTS 1.0, we offer a 10-week version of this course.
For students who need to improve their English by the equivalent of IELTS 1.5, we offer a 20-week version of this course.
