Designed for those wishing to pursue a PhD in biomedical sciences and related areas, this research-focused course will advance your research skills as well as your understanding of research methods and data analysis. From January until September you will concentrate solely on an extended research project, working alongside staff from our Centre for Biomedical Science Research to develop your practical expertise to an advanced level. You will have a wide variety of research options to choose from within molecular biology, microbiology, pharmacology and biochemistry.
This course will provide you with the scientific foundation required to undertake a PhD qualification in biomedical sciences and related areas. It offers a minor taught element offering transferable skills including communicating science, promoting yourself as a scientist using digital channels.
Your independent research project forms a major part of this course, and your peers will include a wide variety of researchers from an array of backgrounds and experiences. You will engage with our Centre for Biomedical Research, a community of expert scientists investigating a range of disciplines including molecular biology, yeast genetics, biochemistry and biophysics, virology, microbiology and antimicrobials, toxicology, and DNA repair.
Our teaching team is often highly commended by students and staff for their innovative teaching methods and support for students, and many of our staff feature regularly as biomedical experts in print, TV and radio.
