Advanced Neonatal Care - Intensive and High Dependency Care
Suitable for practitioners working within the specialty of neonatal care. The module has a strong clinical focus and is run in partnership with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The award content is based on The Essential Core Syllabus for Clinical Competencies for Neonatal Nurses: Qualified in Speciality (QIS).

Module content includes:
- Advance bioscience based knowledge of altered anatomy
- Physiology and the pathophysiology affecting infants within the ICU/HDS environment
- Develop advanced clinical-practical knowledge and skills, via planning and effective care through high quality assessment and intervention strategies within the ICU/HDU environment
Students will be assessed against level 6 or level 7 academic criteria on the following:
- Written case study – focusing in on a clinical practice and management intervention in ICU/HDU and drawing on portfolio evidence:
- Level 6 2500 words
- Level 7 3500 words
- Neonatal clinical competences portfolio (sect. 1)
