An introduction to the ways in which ideas from health and counselling psychology can be applied in AHP practice to support patients This one day course introduces ways in which ideas from health and counselling psychology can be applied in AHP practice to develop successful therapeutic relationships with clients and support them to follow advice and make changes in the longer term. Suitable for uni- and multi-professional participants.
Semester 1 - September 2021 Semester 2 - January 2022
This course will introduce you to a range of ideas from counselling and health psychology including: the practice and impact of developing successful therapeutic relationships; the importance of understanding clients' 'stage of change'; strategies for supporting adherence and behaviour change. Participants will have opportunity to apply ideas in case-based learning and make an action plan for implementing learning in practice.
