As part of this course, you’ll:

  • Gain an understanding of the importance of the perspectives of those living with obesity
  • Collaborate with members of our Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement hub
  • Explore the complexity and transdisciplinary nature of obesity and how it is applied to research, policy and practice
  • Develop a range of practical skills, including using appropriate language, communicating effectively and facilitation
  • Learn how to analyse, interpret and report data to wider audiences
  • Acquire the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to support your career in weight management, working for local authorities or further academic study
  • Have the opportunity to integrate work experience with your academic study to enhance your employability

Obesity research community
As a student of the Carnegie School of Sport, you’ll have access to our Obesity Institute. The institute brings together academics from a range of disciplines across the university, policy makers, practitioners and people living with obesity to coproduce innovative person-centred advances in obesity.

Put your learning into practice
You’ll have the chance to undertake a placement in the field of weight management or public health. This will ensure you apply your learning to practice and gain significant work experience.
