Information for colleagues

Training and Development

Whether working on campus or from home, all colleagues are encouraged to continue enhancing their skills and professionalism by engaging with the training and development opportunities available.

Webinar Workshops

The People and Organisational Development Team’s (POD) 2020/21 ‘People Development Programme’ features webinars designed to help you with the challenges this year may bring, focussing on topics such as Wellbeing & Engagement, Equality & Inclusion, Collaboration & Communication, Team Leadership and Learning Agility.

The webinars are also an opportunity to ensure that we remain connected with each other, via the opportunity to come together virtually to network, share experiences and interact, despite all working in different spaces, both on campus and remotely.

Visit our People and OD website to find out more about what sessions are available.

You can also visit the Development and Training webpage, which brings together the development opportunities available across the University via People and Organisational Development, The Digital Learning Team in LLI, Information Technology Services, The Distance Learning Unit, Student Services and the Research Office.

People Development Online
Our comprehensive range of online learning courses are still available via the People Development Online system. The range of courses available via the system's training library has been expanded to include courses such as:

  • Managing a remote workforce
  • Mental health awareness
  • Self care and wellbeing

Induction
The university induction session has been redesigned into webinar format. The webinar gives new colleagues an opportunity to find out more about the wider university and the services available and is an opportunity to engage with other new employees. Further information about both the Welcome to Leeds Beckett session and the academic specific induction, organised by the Centre for Learning and Teaching, can be found on the New Starter webpage. To book a place email POD@leedsbeckett.ac.uk.

Coaching and Mentoring

Our networks of qualified coaches and experienced mentors are still available to support your development and wellbeing. Meetings can take place via Skype, Teams or telephone. More information can be found on our coaching and mentoring webpages.

IT Skills and Knowledge
Working remotely enhances the need for higher levels of IT skills. Sessions and support for this can be found on the IT Skills webpage.

MS Teams Training
A MS Teams Resource Hub has been developed, to act as a single webpage to help colleagues easily access the Teams training and resources that they need. This links all Teams training and activities organised by different service areas.

MyBeckett and Digital Learning
The Digital Learning Service offer webinars, guides and self-paced training modules to support you in using MyBeckett, Turnitin, PebblePad and more. This range now includes support with two new digital tools, Collaborate and Ally.
