Graduation

Information for students graduating in 2020, including around graduation ceremony postponement as a result of coronavirus.

Plus Icon Will my graduation take place?

We have taken the difficult decision to postpone the graduation ceremonies scheduled for July to protect the health and wellbeing our students, their families, and our colleagues. Public Health England have advised that social distancing measures are likely to be in force for the next few months and that it would be unsafe to hold large events such as graduation.

We know how important graduation is to you and to your family so want to reassure you that this is a postponement and not a cancellation. We will reschedule the ceremonies as soon as we have confidence that they can go ahead safely and in keeping with the advice from the government and Public Health England.

Plus Icon How will I find out about my graduation ceremonies

We will email you to let you know about your rearranged graduation ceremonies. Please make sure that you have updated your personal email address on MyBeckett.

You can update your contact details by either:

  • Going ‘My Beckett’, selecting the ‘My Account’ tab at the top of the screen and then selecting ‘Welcome System (Update my data)’, logging in to Online Welcome and selecting ‘Update my data’ in ‘My Links’
  • Logging into Online Welcome directly and selecting ‘Update my data’ within the ‘My Links’ section of the screen

If you have any problems doing this please contact your school.

We will also update the graduation webpage and the Class of 2020 yearbook on beckettconnect with graduation information.

Plus Icon I am an undergraduate final year, or postgraduate taught student, will I be able to graduate?

Yes, it is important to note that there is a difference between graduating (being awarded your degree) and the graduation ceremony (the celebration event). You will still graduate when the Board of Examiners awards your degree.

Plus Icon What is the Class of 2020 yearbook
We launched the Class of 2020 digital yearbook to recognise and celebrate the achievements of the class of 2020. The yearbook is available through Beckett Connect. To join, please visit beckettconnect and register as class of 2020.  We will be updating the yearbook regularly with careers information, guidance on how to access ongoing support from the university and details on your rearranged graduation ceremonies once this is available.

Plus Icon Will I receive my certificate?

If you are a final year student, it is important that you ensure your ‘permanent home address’ (where you live outside of term time – such as your parent’s address or the address you live at in your home country) is updated on MyBeckett, so we can ensure you receive your graduation certificate. If your address is not updated you may face delays in receiving your award certificate or may not receive it at all.

You can update your contact details by either:

  • Going to ‘My Beckett’, selecting the ‘My Account’ tab at the top of the screen and then selecting ‘Welcome System (Update my data)’, logging in to Online Welcome and selecting ‘Update my data’ in ‘My Links’
  • Logging into Online Welcome directly and selecting ‘Update my data’ within the ‘My Links’ section of the screen

If you have any problems doing this please contact your school.
