Employability and Progression
Our Student and Graduate Futures Team are our team of Careers experts, who are here to support you with all aspects of your career planning. This can be anything from understanding options with your degree, writing CVs and applications, developing a good online presence, help with interviews, or applying for further study, to searching for jobs, getting part-time work, understanding how to make the most of graduate fairs, and plenty more!
As soon as you’ve enrolled you can check out our Jobs and Careers homepage. This is a great place to search and apply for student opportunities and to find out about a huge range of careers. You can also book onto careers and employer workshops that will boost your employability and help you get a job when you graduate. If you’re not sure what you want to do when you graduate, or would benefit from some one-to-one advice, you can book an appointment with one of our professionally qualified Careers Consultants and get guidance on finding a career that’s right for you.
There is plenty of support on offer so make sure you take advantage of every opportunity throughout your time with us at Leeds Beckett.
Did you know?
We don’t just look over CVs.
We also offer one-to-one guidance sessions, group workshops, mock interviews and assessment centre preparation, social media training, and much more.
You don’t need to know what you want to do next to speak to us.
We can help no matter what stage of the process you are at – whether you have no career ideas or need advice on specific jobs, employers or sectors.
Our Careers Consultants won't tell you what to do.
If only it was that easy! However, we can give you straight and honest advice based on your individual needs, go through your options and build up your confidence so that you can make the right decisions for yourself.
The Student & Graduate Futures service isn't just for graduating students who need someone to find them a job.
The earlier you start to think about your career the better. We welcome students at all stages – from week one freshers, to postgraduates, mature students to part-time distance learners, to those who graduated five years ago.
You don't need to have an appointment to see a Careers Consultant.
We recommend booking ahead for a 1:1 session or a workshop – but for simple questions, or advice on where to look, you can drop in and chat with a member of our team at The Gateway (City Campus) or the Student Hub (Headingley Campus).
Our Careers Consultants are trained to give careers guidance.
All our Careers Consultants are fully qualified, each possessing a professional postgraduate diploma in careers guidance (in fact the team has over 100 years of combined experience) so you are in safe hands!
What else is on offer?
