The King's Dinner and the Nation's Appetite
The fifth event in the Leeds Cultural Conversations series 2019/20. Presented by Dr Rachel Rich. This talk will show you some examples of the King’s menus, alongside cookbooks for the middle classes.

For every day that George III ate at Kew, a record was kept of the dishes he was served, and of all the other food cooked at the Palace, for everyone down to the lowliest servants. To what extent did the royal dinner table reflect the taste of the nation?

This event coincided with International Women's Day.

This event is part of the Leeds Cultural Conversations series organised by the Centre for Culture & the Arts at Leeds Beckett University.
