Lecture Series
The seventh event in the Leeds Cultural Conversation series 2018/19.
Presented by Professor Andrew Cooper.
Leeds has significant claim to the title of Data City, and this talk looks at ways in which work on literature and language can provide perspective on issues confronting citizens of the digital realm.
Ranging from steampunk’s engagement with alternative technological worlds of the past, present and future, to consideration of how the history of language theory can help re-frame reliance on the Internet of Things, the aim is to add to the vibrant voices in Leeds talking about the challenges of living in a world of data.
Filmed by the Northern Film School.
This event is part of the Leeds Cultural Conversations series organised by the Centre for Culture & the Arts at Leeds Beckett University.
