Peter is Director of the sports and exercise ‘Musculoskeletal Health Research Group’ and Senior Lecturer in Sports and Exercise Medicine/Therapy at Leeds Beckett University.
A distance runner, Peter studied sports science and physical therapy before completing his PhD in 2014.
Since 2011, Peter has held a consultancy role with the athletics association of Ireland. This role involves coach education and providing sports science and medicine support on training camps abroad.
Peter spent a large portion of his 20's coaching due to injury and illness associated with over-training. More recently, the accumulation of knowledge and experience has led to Peter being able to return to his own running and for the first time, run for 2.5 years’ injury-free. Peter discusses the methods for how to do this on his running blog consistency. This year Peter has lowered his 10km time to 33:46 and hopes to lower it further by the year’s end.
