INSIDE/OUT- 'The Art of Foley'

Foley is one of the most subtle yet persuasive special effects used in film. It is an art of illusion and creativity

13:00 - 15:00 Caoimhe Doyle and Jonny Reynolds will be revealing the tricks of their trade and talking us through the often surprising ways sound is produced for film and television sharing first-hand accounts of their work on productions such as HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’   Lenny Abrahamson’s ‘Room’ & Francis Lee’s ‘Ammonite’.

15:00 - 17:00 Following on from the lecture Caoimhe Doyle & Jonathan Reynolds will give a masterclass workshop were attendees will be invited to perform Foley for a scene from a film and re-create an entire soundscape. Attendees will be guided step by step through various methods of recording and performing realistic sound effects.  A screening of the finished sound design will feature at the end of the.masterclass workshop.
