Women in Business: Leadership & Empowerment

The role of women has developed considerably over recent years, both in large corporates and smaller firms. As a partner sponsor for EY’s Women’s Network in Yorkshire, Suzanne will be examining the benefits of a balanced workforce at all levels.

Suzanne is Managing Partner for Ernst and Young LLP (EY) in Yorkshire and Humberside, leading a practice of 450 people across two offices in Leeds and Hull.

Starting at EY as a graduate, Suzanne qualified in 1996 and became Partner in 2011. During her career, she has worked in the firm’s Bristol, London and Leeds offices, and also spent two years in Moscow, where she worked with global brands throughout Russia.

Suzanne’s leadership journey has seen her take on roles such as co-founding the EY Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) practice, now a global business with more than 5,000 staff, and being co-chair of EY’s UK women’s network, amongst numerous other projects.

During her time at EY, Suzanne has made significant contributions to her profession, the community and the position of women in business, including being Partner sponsor for EY’s Women’s network and family network in Yorkshire as well as being a Director of Phoenix Dance Theatre.  She was recently honoured as ‘Woman of the Year’ in the Professional and Not for Profit category at the Barclays Yorkshire Women in Business Awards.

In addition, Suzanne is a spokesperson for EY Foundation’s Smart Futures, helping disadvantaged pupils gain career insights and access to opportunities they would not otherwise be exposed to. She is also a representative for Robert Peston’s ‘Speakers for Schools’ initiative.
