Employment law and COVID-19: Can employees be forced to be vaccinated?
This is the second Law in Practice lecture presented by Jodie Hill, focussing on issues relating to employment law and Covid-19.

The roll out of the vaccination is increasing in pace and eligibility. Over 65s, those with underlying health conditions and adults who work with vulnerable people have all been offered their first dose. We are now seeing more workers included in the eligibility, but what does the vaccination mean for employees?

Jodie Hill is Managing Partner of Thrive Law and part-time lecturer at Leeds Law School. She will discuss some of the key questions around the vaccination and employment law.

  • What are the rights of workers around their pay, leave, sick leave and costs?
  • Can you be fired for refusing to be vaccinated? Can you be refused access to the workplace if you have been offered a vaccination and said no?
  • What about discrimination? What are the relevant religious/disability concerns in the vaccination programme?  What are the rules around workplace testing?
