carnegieXchange “Right to be Active” (#R2BA) Research Showcase & Dissemination Event


Funded by a British Academy small grant (January 2016 – July 2018) the “Right to be Active” (#R2BA) project, jointly led by Leeds Beckett University and Loughborough University, examined the sport/physical activity experiences of care experienced children and young people in England.

Funded by a British Academy small grant (January 2016 – July 2018) the “Right to be Active” (#R2BA) project, jointly led by Leeds Beckett University and Loughborough University, examined the sport/physical activity experiences of care experienced children and young people in England.

  • An online survey with adult stakeholders,
  • An online survey with care experienced children and young people,
  • Semi-structured interviews with adult stakeholders,
  • Qualitative participatory research with care experienced children and young people.

This dissemination event aims to:

  • present an overview of key findings from the project;
  • provide platforms for discussion and networking;
  • showcase innovative, image-based resources developed through the project;
  • and identify future directions for research, policy and practice.

We invite care-experienced youth, practitioners, policy makers, academics and charitable trusts to attend, learn about the key research findings, consider the implications for practice and discuss how we might move forward to tackle issues that emerge. All attendees will receive a hardcopy report and FREE lunch!
