accommodation for self-isolation
do I need to self-isolate?
If you are from a country not on the UK's Travel Corridor country list, then you will need to self-isolate for a maximum of 14 days when you arrive in the UK.
If you need to self-isolate
You can book a self-isolation room for free in University accommodation for your 14 days in the UK, whether you have a booking with us for the entire academic year or not.
The University has reserved a block of student rooms to accommodate international arrivals who need to self-isolate. The booking process will be separate from your regular student accommodation booking. No deposit will be charged when making a self-isolation booking.
Your self-isolation accommodation is free and includes bedding, kitchen essentials and a welcome pack.
If you don't need to self-isolate
If you are arriving from a country that is exempt from the 14-day self-isolation policy and would like to book your accommodation for the academic year, you can do this through our Accommodation website.
Accommodation for self-isolation
Depending on which country you are travelling from you may need to self-isolate for 14 days when you arrive in the UK. We will provide all new and returning students with free accommodation during this period, and the support you need to help you through this time. Please email our Meet and Greet team with any questions you may have.
Self-isolation accommodation will be provided in our Halls of Residence, where you will isolate with up to five other students who also need to isolate for this period. The flats will be equipped with everything you need to cater for yourself including bedding. We will also help you buy food online for delivery to your flats. There will be options to buy bedding and extra kitchen equipment which you can take with you to your accommodation after isolation.
Am I eligible for self-isolation accommodation?
Free 14-day self-isolation accommodation is available to both new and returning students in January 2021.
Student accommodation is not suitable for families with children. We would encourage families to go directly to your private accommodation upon arrival in the UK. Families are still welcome to book the airport meet and greet service, and will be provided with full support from our team throughout the 14-day isolation period.
Support during isolation: Our International Student Engagement Officers will be supporting you while you are in your isolation period with online events, welcome activities and a dedicated social programme to help you meet people and make friends online
You can buy your bedding in advance which will be left in your room ready for your arrival. The cost for sheets, pillows and a duvet pack is around £50. Visit the Uni Kit Out website to order your bedding pack.
Ordering groceries online
While you’re self-isolating, you will not be able to go to the grocery store. Most big supermarkets in Leeds offer an online delivery service. You will need a credit/debit card or PayPal account to order online. Please watch the video for an example of how to order groceries from Morrisons.com.
