starting your course

Page last updated 23/11/2020

We understand that in the current situation you may not be able to arrive in Leeds for the start of your course.

Don’t worry - you will be able to start your course online initially, before travelling to the UK and joining your course in Leeds.

You may have applied for or are intending to apply for a visa to travel to the UK to study, but may not yet have your visa, or are currently unable to travel. Therefore, if you are travelling to the UK at a later date in the semester, you do not have to complete International Check-in until you arrive in the UK. However, it is very important that you still complete your Registration and Enrolment and start your course online. You will receive an email with instructions on how to do this.

If you will not be able to arrive in the UK for the start of your course, it is very important that you keep us informed. Please send one email (but include both addresses) to:

International Check-in

If you have a Student Visa you will need to attend our International Check-in when you arrive at Leeds Beckett.

When your visa is granted, please contact the Student Immigration Advice and Compliance team with your date of arrival in the UK in order to book an International Check-In appointment.

To ensure your safety and adhere to social distancing measures, you must have an appointment to come to the university for International Check-in and to collect your BRP (Biometric Residence Permit). You should not enter the campus without an appointment. It is important to note that the office where you collect your BRP may be different from what is stated on your UKVI confirmation letter. Further details will be provided when you make your appointment.

You will need to bring your passport, student number, student visa and any other documentation you have been asked to bring.
